The local community will have their first opportunity to look around a new £9 million Independent Living housing scheme in Walton, for people aged over 55 with a care need, at an open day being held on Saturday 5 August between 10am and 2pm. Prospective residents, relatives, carers and the community are invited to the event at Beaumont House, located at Arthur Ransome Way, off Kirby Road.
Beaumont House offers 60 self-contained Independent Living apartments for rent by local people, with 24-7 on-site emergency care and supported provided by Season Senior Living. The stylish apartments are designed to meet changing needs and feature one or two bedrooms, living room, fitted kitchen, built-in oven and en-suite bathroom. Beaumont House also offers community facilities for residents including a stylish lounge, dining room, as well as, a mobility scooter store and beautiful gardens.
At the event, hosted by Season Senior Living, visitors will be able to tour the facilities including a show apartment, discover what type of lifestyle they can expect from Independent Living housing and find out how care and support is delivered.
Development of Beaumont House was supported by a £1.7 million funding contribution from Essex County Council, as part of its long-term strategy to help more local people stay living in a home of their own in later life. The scheme is also supported by Tendring District Council, as part of its strategy to provide homes for local people and support vulnerable residents.
The first residents moved in to their new homes at Beaumont House during July. To be eligible to apply for an apartment an individual must be aged 55 or over, require at least six hours per week of care and be an existing resident in the Tendring District Council area. Independent Living is beneficial for people with a wide range of care and support needs, including early and mid-stage dementia.
The open day is open to all; there is no need to book in advance.
